The 450 Iam looking at is sn 16145.That says 1956.Now the 'kicker'.I have found the casting date code on the transmission. 2*19*C It looks like a 'C',which means 57.The grease is so thick and hard the others were not to be found.OK.Since the sn says 56,the cast date says 57,whats the deal?Could the trans have been replaced that soon ? OR is there something else? Thanks Steve

Steve, Take a look over in the serial numbers along the left side on this forum. I believe you saw the beginning s/n for 1957 was 5 digits starting with 17xxx when in fact the number shown is 1734 (only 4 digits) so the 1957 year 450 tractors would fall within serial numbers 1734 through 21870 and s/n 21871 was the first 450 made in year 1958. It appears 1957 was a very good year for producing the 450's of which no. 16145 was one of them. Too much nice clean thin Colorado air out there I'm thinking, Hal.

Thanks.I will do some more 'studying'. You are probably right. I am suffering from hypoxia/altitude sickness! LOL
