I'm trying to figure out the year of my new Farmall A, This fine site tells me to look on the left seat bracket for the tag with the serial number.........Well guess what???, All that is there are 4 very corroded rivets- Tag is long gone !
So what changes where done from 1939 to 1947 that might help me figure the year of this bad boy??

Look under #1 spark plug behind the throttle rod there will it will be FAA *****. Also look at the tranny on drivers side for a cast code 2*12*O would be Feb 12 1945. First #is month seond#day letter yr with O being 1945 so what #s do you find as they can be on all cast parts their days will no be the same but it gives you some idea. Post what you find and we can go from there.

The engine serial number is on the RIGHT side of the engine, stamped on a raised boss, below #1 sparkplug, kind of behind the magneto or distributor.

Thanks, It's looking like its a 1940 from the casting date on the engine block of 6*3*J* and a casting date of 9*8*J* of the transmission housing "J" is 1940 corret ??

Thanks again
Dave
