'Splitting' an H

I Split my SH this afternoon. Need to replace the
starter ringgear.I was amazed that IH had acctually
'hidden' a bolt behind the starter!The M/SMs have no
such 'hidden' bolt!It really was no problem,but it
could have been for a 'first timer'.Even though I've
split many IH(and other) tractors,this was my first
H.I guess even an 'old dog' can learn! LOL Steve

Most not have had the room they needed on the little guys. I thought that was strange as well. Just like the one bolt that goes the opposite direction as the rest.

It's 1/2inch(3/4 socket/10" extention)).About 2-3" long. access through the starter hole.

I ran into the same thing on an H. Kind of surprised me too!

If it has not been done yet you can just flip it over and run on the opposite side.

Did that.Didn't even remove the clutch/flywheel. punched it off,then heated it and set it on the flywheel.
