Need Advice on a 766

I'm looking for a tractor with a cab to run my 3pt.
snowblower. I currently use an Allis WD. Would a 766
diesel be a good snowblower tractor, or is it too
fast in reverse? The Allis at least has the hand-
clutch...

Well depends on how deep the snow is first rev with the T/A in low is as slow as your going to go and at PTO speed it maybe to fast if it is setting on 38 inch rubber . I have never had a snow blower on a 06-66 tractor so i really can say for sure . The only snowblower i have run was on a 584 and in the snow that we were blowing first rev was ok on it .

We ran our 8 foot snow blower last year on our 986. With the snow we got last year here in NJ it could have used some more power or a lower 1st gear reverse.

that tractor in R1,TA low is about as slow as anything.if you need to go slower, get a Hydro. That 766 will be just fine.If for some reason you need to stop for a drift, simply step on the clutch and let it catch up.

I run an IH 856 with an IH model 80 snow blower. When I come to a large pile of snow, I just push in the clutch and let the blower catch up. I've always run in reverse at L1, and TA back, but it's still a little fast,

I used a chained up 966 hydro on an 1970 model 7' M&W snow blower for many years. Used it to load trucks clearing snow from village streets with varying sizes of windrows of snow. Loaded several thousand loads thru the years. The hydro can match any condition. Used 16' farm trucks with silage boards and self opening tailgates. With the right snow condition I could load a truck in about 2 1/2 min. Before my time they tried a IH1466, JD4430 and others but they had too fast reverse. We originally was going to look at a 756 hydro but it was sold before we could see it. I would suggest any type of hydro. 756 100 or 966 would be a great fit. Good luck

I blow with a 1206 and a 8 foot blower. I run R1 TA hi most of the time and only go TA low in really heavy stuff. I think you'll be OK with a 706. Remember, after the first cut you can take a partial cut if it's really deep.
