howdy all.
just one quick question.
i've been reading on here about the T/A and lube.
being hy-tran is the way to go and using 80-90
weight gear grease will ruin the T/A.
would someone explain why using 80-90 gg will ruin
the T/A.
thanks. J in Pa

The overrunning clutch (ramp and rollers) are in a wedge shaped groove. A small spring & plunger push's them to stay in contact with the TA planet carrier. The heavy gear lube hampers the free movement of those rollers and thus they do not maintain sufficient contact and then the carrier will spin against the rollers and you have a no drive situation in the low side of the TA and the rollers get flattened. It does not harm the planet gears themselves.
