W6 nine speed

Aftermarket only. M&W made one, and I think Behlen was the other brand. Also available for the Farmall H, and Farmall M.

Hiesler was the other popular brand of 9-speed. Behlen made over-drives but I don't think they made one for the H & M and similar W series.

You might be right.

Dr. evil, behlen made the one that goes where the belt pulley gear box goes. it gives one speed between 4th and 5th. it could be 7 or 10 mph. merry Christmas.

Been around thousands of M's & H's for 60 years and have never seen or ever heard of a Behlen o/d for an H or M.

Tells me they must be one of the rarest aftermarket accessories ever. Adding one gear does not sound as useful as adding four. Bet that's why nobody used them.

Dad had a '47 M with a Hiesler that got traded on a SM-TA, and every tractor except one that he brought on the place from then on had fast fourth.

I have a Farmall H and M both with a Heisler 9 speed transmission and it certainly makes both of them very useable tractors. I believe originally they were to make those tractors suitable for rotary hoes which required a faster ground speed, Hal.
