I'm looking at buying a 400 that has an all hydraulic loader, 3pt
conversion, tank heater chains etc...

Apparently the power steering is out on it. What all could be
wrong with it and how expensive a fix might it be?

They are not difficult. just a in line torque sensor and torque generator. (assuming it is factory) The hydraulics are powered from a priority system in the valve block (from the Built in Hydraulic system) Jim

Rustred, while we are on the subject, could you post a pic of how the separate hydraulic pump is mounted on your 400? I am thinking about switching mine to that type of pump for my 450. Thanks. Now back to our regular thread! Hugh

Gotta figure out what it's got first. If it's got the separate pump it might be as simple as that pump being no good or out of oil.

Think if you have farmall 400 with a separate pump for the power steering its not factory. Yes it could be factory if you have a international or W 400 tractor.

yes, mine is a w400 . pump is separate. nobody ever specifies if its a farmall or standard model.
