Replacing two fuel filters on 686 with 310 diesel engine. Thinking best to fill filters with fuel and then screw them on. Will this eliminate need to bleed system? If I have to bleed system, what is best way to do that? Filters have screw on bottom. Is that where you bleed air from the system if necessary?

Hi, should be a bleed screw on top of each filter housing.
Bleed filter closest to fuel tank first then bleed the next filter. Try to start engine after bleeding. If the engine will not start then loosen an injector line at the rear of the injector pump and try to start engine.

Yeah, if you try to fill the filters before you put them on you all but guaranteed to spill fuel all over the place. Much less mess if you install them dry and use the bleeders on the top of the filter bracket.
