disc size for an 886

I have a 16 ft white 252 and an 18ft white 263 disc the 263 has a bit bigger disc blades (less wear on discs)I've pulled the 16ft with a oliver 1850 no problems but have not used the 263 yet. IM looking at an IH 886 to replace my 1850. Will it pull my new disc?

I say yes but it will depend on your ground ,how heavy it is, it maybe more than it really wants. I have pulled 20 foot behind an 856 but different ground it pulled hard with 14 foot , I also forgot the condition the tractor is in will matter as well.

It's up to you, but i would get a 986 , to replace that 1850, That 886, isn't going to cut it! My cousin had a new 886, way less power than my 806-T.

The Oliver is rated about two more HP over the IH their both in the 90 hp range. The shipping wt. is higher than the 1850 by a 1000 lb.Can't see why it won't handle the disk.

Our family near Muncie in had 2 886 tractors bought brand new in 1978 for over 20 years. Reliable enough but they are basically a four bottom tractor. Without a turbo they lug down pretty quick in heavy ground. You definitely have to dual it up but we also had a 1066 and 1466 bought used after the 886s came to the farm. If you are going with an ih tractor get a 1466, best tractor ih ever made. Don't buy one that has had the pump turned up, the crankshaft won't handle it.
