Is this a Farmall?

If so, what Model?

Any one know the good, the bad, and the ugly, about the tractor in this picture?

I'm not familiar with Farmalls.

Thanks.

It appears to be a super c, the mason jar pre-cleaner was indicative for the super series. If I'm not mistaken.

The Mason jar has nothing to do with model of the tractor as it was an "extra" in fact the jar was used on models before the 'C' series were built.

It has the generator/regulator charging system. I believe that makes it at least a '49. The lack of a hydraulic system is quite unusual, enough so that I assume it was removed. That is a red flag that the tractor may be mongrelized in some other ways. For example, it may have an engine from a Farmall A, which has no place to mount the hydraulic pump.

the good...it has new rear tires and close to me.
the bad... its on auction.
the ugly... the paint job.

These guys have it. A C or a Super C. Can't tell from the angle of the picture, but the hood looks more "proportional" so my guess is it is a Super.

There should be a hydraulic unit mounted underneath the gas tank with two sets of arms for lifting mounted implements.

It would be truly odd for it to not have one from the factory, though not unheard of I guess. Many have been removed to lighten the tractor for pulling, but a pulling tractor would generally not have a wide front because it adds weight.

that is a super c.the hood is higher on the manifold than a regular c.and it has the larger steering wheel which the super c had.also the steering shaft post is a super c .

It's a C or Super C and without the additional photos, serial no. or casting codes noted in earlier responses there are some other identifying differences. The brake and clutch pedals are straight on the C while with a good curve in them for the Super model. All straight C's will have a five digit serial no. while all Supers will have six digit serial no's. unless the seat bases have been switched along the way. Also, the C will have brake bands inside a stamped steel housing and the Supers will have disc brakes along with a cast cover. Those identifying items can't be seen in your photo and there are a few other differences as well. As far as being a useful tractor or not, the Super C (more so then the C because of a larger engine) is probably one of the very best early Farmalls produced in that size being sized for small 80 acre size farms of anything IH produced for many years. Almost 100,000 Super C's were produced in 1951-1954 plus the later following 200, 230 & 240 models followed by the 404. A Farmall Super C with a 2 point IH fast hitch has features which are rare in some cases on modern currently produced same size tractors. Parts are plentiful and relatively inexpensive due to the large numbers produced along with those currently still in use, HTH, Hal.

Those are the things I noticed... Dad had both Cs and Super Cs and that looks "Super" to me. Great little tractors in their day. Check the engine... should be a 123 with a water pump. C had a 113 engine and no pump. Very unusual that it doesn't have the Touch Control hydraulics, unless someone was building a puller.
