i have a farmall 200 6v positive ground and it was over charging so i put on a new voltage regulator and now its not charging. does anyone know what it could be? i polarized it but can someone tell me how to again in case i did it wrong? thanks

Use a piece of copper wire (Solid is nice) to jump from the Bat terminal on the regulator to the GEN terminal. (not F ever) The tractor should not be running, but the battery should be hooked up and all wiring in place. This charges the Generator field iron cores with residual magnetism. to allow it to self start. If it still does nothing let us know. Jim

Did you take the Delco Remy # when you bought the new one its on the back side of the genny. Where did you get the reg.

If it charged for a little we know it can charge. Use the same jumper wire. With it running 3/4 throttle, jump from good ground to the F terminal on the generator. (not dangerous, it just causes it to charge max amps) If it charges when jumpered to ground, the generator is good, and the VR is suspect. If it does not charge with it jumpered, the VR, or the Generator could be at fault. Using a volt meter, (with it running and field grounded) check the volts on the Arm terminal of the Gen. If little or nothing, the generator may be needing a rebuild. If at or more than 7 volts even like 10 volts, the generator is making voltage and I would replace the regulator. New can be bad, (especially if from across the largest ocean) Jim

You got a junk regulator. It stinks because they aren't cheap.
This is the reason every old tractor here now sports an
alternator.
