Pulled the final drives on my 44 A, to replace the brakes. NOw I want to pull and replace the seals. Do I need 3 or 4 seals per side? Is their a place I can see an exploded view of the final drive etc. Thanks Henry

It depends on how deep you want to go to replace seals. If you change all the seals in both final drives and the ones on the sides of the differential, the answer is YES, it takes 3 or 4 per side.

The ones on each side of the differential are easily seen and replaced once the final drives are removed. There is one on the upper shaft in each final drive housing that can be seen once the brake drum is removed. If you change these, be sure to get the brake drum good and tight when you replace it. There is one on the outer end of each axle shaft. Replacing it requires fairly complete disassembly of the final drive. I wouldn't do it unless it was actually leaking. If you have a seed drive, it will have the fourth seal on that side.

There is an exploded view in the parts catalog, a manual you should have before doing much work on a tractor. An online copy can be found on the CaseIH site.
