Lower Radiator Hose Heater for Super MTA

Can a lower radiator hose heater be mounted on a Super M? I was considering installing one because I have used the magnet heaters with limited luck when it is very cold. Located in NE Kansas.

I have one on a 300 and it works pretty well but it has to be
plugged in at least two hours ahead to do any good at all, longer is
better. I would think that you would need more time on a SMTA
since they have so much more engine to heat. A tank heater
plumbed into the block is faster to heat and has a much bigger
element, but it is more expensive and uglier, and more of a risk of
catching on tree branches or such if you use your tractor in the
brush or woods.

I have seen lower rad hose heaters on some old tractors. you should be able to install a circulating block htr. also. I have seen them installed in the heat guage port and then to the block drain on the left side. basically you need to pull the cold coolant from bottom of block then push it to the top somewhere on the head. and also a circulating htr. works quite well and quickly. in an hr you will notice big difference.

My Super M came with a heater that connected to the drain in the side of the block, and the engine temperature probe sensor in the head. I removed it, as I have never found heat to be necessary to get these old gas powered machines running in the coldest of temperatures here in Western NY.

Thanks for all the great info. Looks like I'll have to go the block heater route. I don't mind plugging it in for a couple of hours. I was doing this anyway with the magnet heaters, but would still have starting problems.
