inner and outer seals...what way do the springs on seals face..messicks says springs face tractor..if so how does outer bearing get oil or does it not ,it just gets greased when installed.someone straighten me out please...thanks in advance....dewy

There is a grease fitting on the outer bearing . . . I think.

fitting only greases bearing which in turn greases axel....stupid forgot which way grease fitting was pointing...slow plumber ...basically keep oil in tractor...dewy thanks..

There is supposed to be no oil flow into the axle housing. Outer seal is lubricated through the grease fitting.

Spring in on both seals. Spring side most always to the fluid.
Outer bearing is lubed by grease fitting. No oil to get to axle cavity.

ALL seals have lip or spring facing the oil or grease. In your case facing the tractor. The only exception to this is on a Woods belly mount mower that uses grease on the blade shafts, Woods want the lip facing out because of the possibility of the grease forcing the seal out with facing in; that won't happen on yours.
