Charging Batteries on a 1206

What is the best way to charge two 6-volt batteries on a 1206? Should I disconnect one battery and charge just 6 volts at a time or can I charge both (12 volts) at one time?

You can charge the two connected together in series with a 12 volt charger NOT a problem. If for some reason you wanted to charge them separately with a 6 volt charger it would still work of course. I'm not going into connections, you didn't ask and I assume you already know all that...Id just stick a 12 volt charger on the series sum 12 volt connection if it were me.

Yes, you can charge both at one time:

Hook the positive to the positive battery terminal that goes to the starter and the negative to a good ground on the tractor.....frame rail bolt works well for me.

As long as both batteries are good it should not be a problem. If one of the batteries is bad it could possibly cause the other one to be over charged.

hook your battery charger positive to the alternator connection post and the negative on the frame (ground) somewhere. 12Volt setting 10 amp for a couple hours.

easy to get to. and that's how they charge normally when running.
