Good evening everyone ,

In 1951 was the starter button mounted on the post or operated with the foot lever with the switch mounted behind the post? Mine is mounted behind the post , just want to make sure before I order the cables , And lastly where would be the best place to order all 3 cables? Thank you and have a great day.

I have a 51 M, 258366 x 1, My starter button is the foot operated lever, and i hate it down there! Both our IHC dealer and napa make cables to fit, they use welder cable, which is over doing it a bit, but they will put on the end, i want, and at the angle want. They also put on a shrink wrap protector,on the end .

My 1940 M and my 1940 H both have the switch mounted on the steering post. Previous owner did the conversion on the H, and I did the conversion on the M. That foot operated contraption is the most awkward thing the IH boys ever thought up.

Decide where you want to put the switch. Then measure
the length required.Add an inch or two for some
'wiggle room'.Go to NAPA and have some New cables
custom made from '0' or '00' welding cable.
