464 diesel
starts and runs good (for about 4-5 min) then will slowly stop, can keep it running using the stop/start/run lever
I have changed the fuel filters and the little black rubber fuel hose going to the injector pump,
The return line has good flow back to the fuel tank.
I have checked the fuel petcocks for blockage and there good and clean, no blockage
could it be a bad injector? or a partically clogged one?

Injectors will not cause it to slowly stop if it runs good 4-5 minutes. Take the fuel line loose at the filter inlet and check fuel flow. Does it flow OK a few seconds then slow down? Could be a tank or restriction, or tank vent plugged. No air in means no fuel out. Not sure what filters are used, but if they are NAPA 3166 make sure there is no extra O ring in the top filter fuel inlet groove, that will cause trouble too.

Hi Carl, try loosening the filler cap on the fuel tank. If the tractor still stalls then with a clean bucket remove the fuel line from the tank off at the first fuel filter and let it run into the bucket. The fuel should flow out the full of the fuel line. Let in run for the 5 to 10 minutes that the tractor would run before stalling. If it flows good before the filters, then try the same thing on the inlet fuel line to the injection pump.

Does your D-179 have the 1 or 2 metal fuel filters or the 2 CAV type fuel filters with glass bowl on bottom?

the filter are fram and have the o ring around the filter and then the little oring around the screw on filter, I did away with the glass bowls years ago.
