High pitched squeal revisited

Super C:
Figured out where it is most likely coming from. The fan pulley has alot of wiggle slop in it. It must have loosened over the first few hours of run time. I know i just assembled this a few weeks ago, but can you guys tell me how to tighten this up before i start taking the radiator and such off? Might be an easier way than i am thinking.

Thanks
Joshua

Not sure on a 123 engine, but on the the H @ M's there's groves ,in the thread's crossways, [cut with a milling ,machine from the factory] You tighten the set screw into one of the cut's, that will acts as a stop or a locking mechanism!

You didnt put oil in the fan assy and now if it wiggles it is shot and you need to replace the whole fan assy. The new ones have bearings and need no lube. But you will need to buy a new one which will be a complete assy. You will need to remove the radiator to replace it. The nut at the back of the bracket does NOT turn you do use a wrench on the place in the FRONT of the bracket and loosen it. The nut on the rear is oversized and slides in the bracket up and down to tighten the belt. You understand how the assy slides up to tighten the belt when you get the old fan assy removed but thats the way they are made. So start looking for a replacement NEW fan assy as all the used ones on ebay are probably bad or have play and are next to being junk.

When i hold the fan it can by the outer edg of a blade i can move it forward and backward quite a bit. But this just started all of a suden, which makes me think the bolt holding the assembly worked loose. But the only way i can see to tighten it would be to take the radiator off.

Josh,

Gene is 100 percent right replace whole assy
Be glad you caught it ASAP like you did mine exploded and went threw the radiator on my b made a real mess
Good luck
Eddie

Disregard what i said said, My B was so bad i sent mine to machine shop to get repaired, i went out and looked. It doesnt use what i described!

Years ago I took mine off the C and took it to work. I turned the shaft to accept two small bearings and opened the fan housing up and pressed it together. I have not hardly looked at it since then.
