Hydro 70 3 point problems

I'm going to look at a Hydro 70 diesel that is reported to work fine except the 3 point hitch is totally dead. Is there anything I can do to check this out and see how bad the problem might be without tearing into it? As far as checking the hydro goes I gather I need to get it hot and make sure it can still stall the engine with the brakes? Anything else to know about these? Thanks, Sam

Is it just the 3 point or to all the rear hydraulic functions not work? If the outlets don't work as well I would look at the rear hydraulic pump, I've seen the gear come off the pump shaft.

I'll try and see, I know the PTO works, is it hydraulically
engaged? If that was it is it a major fix? Thanks, Sam

Depends on what happened, sometimes it's as simple as putting a new gear and pump in. I saw a 1586 that the splines on the shaft the holds the gear that drives the pump where completely wiped out. That was a big job to fix.

The pto is hydraulically applied, but has its own pump.

The hitch pump is piggy-backed on the rear of the main pump and runs the hitch by itself. Front pump runs the remotes and steering.

Not a bad job to change at all.
