How to remove seal on lift-all

I have a 49 M and the lift-all front seal leaks. It leaks enough that it needs to be replaced. How do you get the front coupler off?

You have to jam the gears with a rod down the inside (I think the manual says a brass rod) and the coupler turns opposite normal threads.

Use a piece of flat metal 1/8" x 3/4" x 6"( it does not have to be brass) to fit teeth in pump evenly( do not use a round rod it will put to much pressure in one place and damage teeth) Insert flat metal into oil intake of pump. You can also try welding a piece of key stock (that fits the slot on the pump drive) to a socket and use a !/2" impact to try to remove drive without taking pump out of reservoir.

Sometimes the drive will come off by using a hammer and heavy punch to break them loose. The drive screws on and is right hand threads.

Unless you make up a tool to use a impact wrench trying several starts of the wrench. Or sharp blows from a Hammer and drift punch you need to unbolt the complete plate from the reservoir unit.
Then put something that wont damage the gears up through the suction hole that points to the bottom.
Even if the first two methods are tried the driven dog may not come loose that way unless lucky.
Drive dog you want to remove is on the other end of the right gear shaft in picture. Square looking part of the casting below the gears is the opening that gears can be jammed through.

I think the threads are right handed as in normal. The threads on both the drive and driven are Righty tighty lefty loosy. Jim
