That H was the first tractor to sell. It was a pretty good looking H, but needed rubber all the way around.

Yes, quite a price.

I remember one that I wouldn't have given 2 cents for when it was almost new. Farmer got a new one and started plowing w/412 4 bottom plow. As land came together, both wheels were in a furrow. The unplowed strip widened and as 460 wheel started to climb out of furrow the rear end pulled apart instead. Dad was Service Mgr. at the IH Dealership and I went with him to bring it to shop. Quite a job to get it loaded and hauled in !

Got it fixed, later installed the IH updates and probably still running somewhere. In fact, now I would like to have one myself but would try to get it for less than $18,000 but would be willing to pay a lot more than 2 cents ! (grin)

Well there you go. That turns it into a $1500 H really fast. It would have to be a really nice H to get me to consider putting $1500 into an H. They are a very nice old tractor but are also a dime a dozen.

From a collector standpoint, I totally agree with you. From a usability perspective I do NOT agree. Unfortunately the poor ole h's are the Rodney Dangerfield of tractors in that they get little to no respect. Guilty of it myself in my younger years as I always turned my nose up the the h's and even the m's for that matter.

That ole h will do a lot of work with the tires that are on it. Miser on fuel too for the technology being used. Build or put a 3 point on it and you have something semi-modern and usable for very little money. $550 is not much more than scrap iron value. Oh well off my soapbox. Hope it went to a good home.
