Fast Hitch SuperC. Lived on that tractor in the 50s and 60s. It mowed all the hay and cultivated all the corn. Haybine and corn spray gave it a break, twenty or thirty more years of trim mowing, another ten years as hydraulic drawbar use. Now its 60 years old and the drawbar slowly drifts down. Held up solid for 58 years. last two years drooping. Wonder why?

Two choices.

Oil leaking by the piston in the cylinder or leaking by the seals in the valve.

There should be a check valve between the control valve and cylinder. If that is in place and functioning the control valve will not be holding any load from the cylinder.

on my 240 utility the check valve is under the seat. kind of a square cast iron box, maybe 6 in by 6 in,it needed new orings. get them from i-h, i tried o rings from an assortment kit, but they were not quite right.

the valve should be just under the seat on a SC. Setting on the seat, look between your legs.
