IH 460 oil pan repair

Thanks to all who responded before. I was able to get a new gasket on the pan without getting it all the way off. But after getting that done, I fired it up and thought everthing was leak free. After a few minutes I noticed another leak from another area. About an inch down from the lip of pan I found a hair line crack about an inch long. I did not see it before, barely noticeable. My question now is, would JB weld adhere enough to stop the leak? Larry

I poked a hole in a oil pan with a steel post.

Welded it shut on the tractor. Still running fine 30 years later.

Weld it for a final fix.

If it is an early 460 it may have a light oil pan. A change was made to a heavier pan due to cracking problems.

If it's up near the top I would think JB Weld would work. Just be sure to get it good and clean. It doesn't work well on the bottom because no matter how long you let it sit after draining, there's still a little oil seeping out.
