simple hydraulic question

I have a 1944 M with the belly hydraulic pump and a Saginaw 3 point hitch with dual cylinders. I currently have it plumbed with one hydraulic line from one of the two hookup fittings on the left side of the tractor. It runs from the pump to the rear of the tractor and then has a tee to the two cylinders. It works flawlessly. However------ would it work more efficiently if I ran a dedicated hydraulic line from each belly pump hookup to each cylinder? Would I increase the volume to each cylinder? Keep in mind that I would have to buy new hydraulic lines and some fittings. Your thoughts please. Thanks, Ellis

The flow is essentially equal either way, and is dependent on pump volume. Make sure the connection is to the front left side output, and not the rear most one. (It is a delay port) Jim

I had my Saginaw plumbed one line to each cylinder. Limb caught one of the lines and pulled it apart, so I just plumbed it like you have yours. Couldnt tell any difference, but the heaviest thing mine lifts anymore is my BushHog.

Be sure you hook it to the front outlet on the left side. The rear one has a built in delay to lift the rear section of a cultivator after the front sections.

No the left rear port isn't a delay on lifting unless a delay lift valve is used in the line to hydraulic cylinder. When lowering it does have a different check that releases. So they are correct that with two lines to matching cylinders use the front left with the right.
Won't notice the difference with a line from each compared to one.

I believe there is a delay valve internal to the pump. However, if you have the right outlet and the left front outlet capped, you will override the internal delay valve.

The early H and M cultivators had a separate cylinder to lift the rear section. By putting it on a delay, you would "Scratch out" your tracks as you turned around.

Dean, don't have time now to do it. Maybe later today or early tomorrow I will give some proof for my claims.
Don't mean anything unfriendly, I just look at it like two persons having a friendly discussion but disagree.
This subject comes up a lot with lots not agreeing.
Maybe kind of long but I will give my version of what I think is correct. May start it in another post.

(quoted from post at 12:49:33 09/19/14) Be sure you hook it to the front outlet on the left side. The rear one has a built in delay to lift the rear section of a cultivator after the front sections.

NO, the delay is NOT built into the pump. The device for providing the delayed reaction is totally external. It goes onto the hydraulic hose, and is an optional accessorie.

ALL 3 ports are plumbed into the same exact manifold on the rear of the belly pump, and all 3 will do the same exact thing. Take one apart sometime, and you will see.
