I have a Cub cadet model 72 tractor and I am trying to locate the neutral starting switch. I thought it would be in the clutch linkage but can not seem to locate it. any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

On the underside center of the tractor there's a threaded rod that runs from the clutch pedal shaft to the clutch release lever that pulls the throw-out bearing back from applying pressure on the clutch plates. There's a small arm, maybe 3/4 inches wide and 4-5 inches long that presses on the safety start switch. The switch itself is mounted on a cross piece spot welded inside the frame of the tractor, the switch itself towards the back of the tractor, the plunger towards the front.

There may be a bottom frame cover that needs to be removed to see the safety switch.

Well, my 1968 vintage 72 had one installed when I bought the tractor in January 1981 and it's still there, still works!

Thank you,, thank you. I removed the mower deck and found it OK the metal tang on the rod had turned enough that it was not making contact with the switch. WOrks fine now.
