Front tire/rim size 1965 806

I recently acquired a 65 806 row crop from grandpa, thrilled to have this tractor. Grandpa decided some years ago the 806 would be better equipped with some of my uncles used jeep tires, 31 10.50's, on the front. He said it rode better. These have to go! In order to do this he had to switch out the front rims with 15". I am in the market to replace rims and tires back to a 3 rib tire and 16" rim. From what I can find it shows the correct tire size is 6.50 16's. Does anyone know the rim width size for this application, and is the data I found on tire size seem right? Any help greatly appreciated.

It's going to look stupid with 6.50-16's on the front. Like someone put bicycle tires on it.

IMHO they look best with a 10.00-16 tri-rib.

Be aware that you need a rim with a heavy offset to keep the tires from rubbing on the front end.

Mine is a 1967 806, it came with with 11.00-16 on it for front tires, U definitely need the IHC offset front rims, otherwise it will hit the stops, built in to the spindell !!!

I thought the same on 6.50 setup. Seemed way too small. A guy here locally has several of these and most have 7.50 16 setup, those look pretty good. One had the 10.00 16 and it almost seemed too big. So let me understand, for a 10.00 16 tire you need a 10" x 16" rim? And how much offset do you think I need?

It's not much, but i went thru this when i bought rims, for the guide tires when we use to cultivate corn. Go buy some from a junkyard thats off a 806, or 856.

ours all came with 7.50L-15SL tires; one tractor has been switched over to 10.00-16 which is a common size. don"t know rim width offhand.

Found a picture of the 806 in the field about 25 years ago, looks like the same rim that has the 31 10.50's are on. Gonna pull tires and measure width. Also going to ask Grandma, I bet she'll remember if the ole man switched rims. Hopefully these will be 9.5" rims and can go with 11L 15 3 rib.
