I tried out the suggestions offered last night and the batteries and cables, ground are all good. So today I went looking; the key switch has good power, and the switch works, but the starter button does not receive enough strength of signal to work, so back up and the culprit is the alternator light. I fiddled with it and it now sometimes works, do I replace the light, the bulb or what...Thanks Darald

The bulb and socket might be able to be cleaned and a light coat of corrosion inhibitor put on the connections. If it is rusty and trashed, replace it. Many on line electronics distributors have the lights and fixtures. Make sure it is a filament bulb, and not a diode. It should be the same current draw as a marker light. Be sure the fixture is not self grounding, it needs two isolated leads to the bulb to work. The wires going to the bulb are not connected to ground through the bulb, but through the regulator. Jim
