300 utility run away throttle

So. After replacing head gasket and having my head surfaced, tractor started right up and the throttle went full open. I shut her down and started troubleshooting. The governor will let it sit at idle for awhile but then starts to let her rev up. If I open throttle she won"t idle back down. I have the top cover off governor linkage and the side cover also. Everything moves freely it seems. Looking for suggestions to save me some time in figuring it out.

is the tab in the slot at the carb?

Tom is on it. The linkage from the governor tube to the carb is not in the slot. It is a common issue and needs care and good lighting to get it in place. Jim
