Questions on Splitting a Farmall 656

I need to rebuild the engine on my Farmall 656 regular gas tractor.

What kind of blocking will make it easiest to do? I've never done this before, I have a neighbor who can help me, but I'd liek to be as safe as possible.

As far as buying a rebuild kit, where is the best place? I also need to replace the crank shaft. I saw some crank shafts on ebay, is it safe to buy on eBay? The one I saw has all mic'd measurements written on it.

Thanks for any help!

Use splitting stands that carry the front half of the tractor. It should be 50 % wider than the fram is from side to side. It is best with wheels to allow the front to be moved safely.
The rear can be supported under the trans with cribbing and tapered wedges. The cribbing shoud never be ceramic, or cement blocks, they are fragile and unstable. Wood is best. Do it on concrete to prevent difficulty in mating the engine to the trans. Take pictures of disassembly for use putting things back together. Heavy items need a stout lift. Do not overload a cheap crain or comeallong. Jim
