toe-in - 300 U front axle

I have a 300U with a front loader. No Power steering. It steers VERY hard. All four tie rod ends are shot. One tire is standard 3 rib, the other some old snow tire from truck. I have good drag links with ties rod ends to install. My question is: The I&T book says there are marks on all the parts to line up before installing drag links- WHERE? I cannot find them.
Anybody no where they are?
thanks in advance
PS- When I lift the front end and check for play:hands at 9:00 and 3:00 or 12:00 and 6:00, I can't feel any big issues, maybe a little loose in the bearings. In use, sometimes one tire will get knocked way off alignment, like pointing off at the next town. Is this maybe the bushings?
Are these bushings still available?
thanks again

Sounds like the key or spline in the spindle at the steering arm is shot. If the wheel is getting turned that much. The only thing about the tie rods is the groove in the ends for the bolts to go through then adjust the threads for the toein.

Spindle thrust bearings (just above the wheel hub) are notorious for no grease, and high friction. They should be checked for wear/grease. The Steering box Is also weak, and needs really good Lubricant, Lucas or such. Toe in is 1/4 inch from back of tire to front of tire. Jim

If I recall correctly, there are supposed to be chisel marks on the arms on top of the spindles and the their tubes that align when the wheels are straight ahead.I don"t remember any other marks on the drag links;maybe on the steering box where the pitman arms attach in the straight ahead position.Mark

index marks- yes- a puncture wound punch on the shafts and line on the steering arms (both on box and knuckle)
; and I guess on "U" models only. I found them after several cleanings. Mostly they line up, but not really precise like timing gears. One is out but I don't think I would make it better by pulling and re-positioning one tooth. I think I will concentrate on the spindles and tie rods ends.
I did not mention that the steering box had been changed at some time as it is a different color.
Both tie rods are bent and had re-bar welded on to fix.
Front rims also don't match, i.e. one has about 1 inch off set and the other 3 inch.
thanks again I'll keep you posted
