i got spark to the plugs. im getting fuel but still wont start. i just put number one cylinder to tdc and the rotor button is in line with #1 cylinder.

Check your plug wires to make sure they're on your
distributor cap in the correct firing order. Your rotor rotates CW and your wires need to be in this firing order on the cap. Hal
2-1
4-3
PS: No1 plug is near the radiator

So what was the spark problem?

So the #1 cylinder is the forward most cylinder, (furthest from the driver, closest to the front of the tractor)? Is this the same on an H? I know the firing order may be different, but is the cylinder layout still the same, 1 most forward, 4 most rearward?

YES!!

Firing order is the same too:

1-3-4-2

Now to confuse things: If you decided the REAR cylinder was #1, and timed the ignition to the rear cylinder at top-dead-center on the compression stroke, it would still run just fine.

Pretty sure that's what I did. Although I cannot honestly say I remember whether I was on the compression stroke or not. I think I must've been as the tractor was running with it wired like that.
