I am looking for a non warped C113 oil pump cover. I just rebuilt my C's engine and I replaced the oil pump gasket. The cover was obviously warped so I tried to adhese the gasket but it appears to have only worked temporarily as the pressure is low again. Thanks to anyone who might be willing to sell one shipped to 06096.

They should still be available from your local IH dealer, I just ordered a gasket for mine. Or you could work it down on a piece of emery cloth ona flat surface....Ed

You can get new ones from dealer or sand yours takes time but it can be done. I would sand it down be your cheapest way out.

I've got one and my email is open.

Unless the thing is bent into a C shape - lay down
a large sheet of sandpaper with spray adhesive to
something perfectly flat (thick glass, a large
marble tile, some quality 3/4 plywood - etc.

then lay the cover on the sandpaper and go in a
figure 8 pattern over and over again (without
turning the plate). Flip it occasionally and you
should see a clear wear pattern to gauge your
progress. Very slowly rotate the plate to keep
things random.

- that figure 8 pattern will help avoid favoring
one side.

When you get a uniform finish, you're done.

Probably won't take as long as you'd think.

I did the sanding thing but then I used cork gasket which of course didn't work. So I went to napa and got hard gasket material that's only .020"-.025" thick. Going to do more sanding tomorrow and use the right material.

yeah - I wish I knew the correct thickness, but
they're very thin material. Like newspaper.

And the thicnkess is critical. You basically set
the the pressure by the thickness of the gaske.

Most likely in your case, the thinner the better.
Cork would be way out, it couldn't possibly be cut
thin enough and still hold together.

Xfarma could be right with the 002-005 number, I
just don't know. I do know newspaper's closer to
the .002 number, and that feels about right for
those gaskets so... if all else fails, when
you're done reading the comics, make a gasket out
of that.

Thick gasket is part of your problem as the gasket is paper thin and using a thick gasket wakes too much clearence for the pump to build pressure and no cement is used. Thin brown paper could be used for a gasket as the only place to get a new one would be from I-H as one from NAPA would be in an overhaul kit cause they probably dont have just the gasket for sale. Do like other post says sand and sand.

After tons and tons of sanding with 80 grit then 180 grit I got the cover much better than what it was. Not perfect but it's holding good pressure now. It looked like the gasket could seal all around. Gasket I used was .005" thick.
The pressure at idle, hot is now about 1/4 up the gage and goes over 1/2 way at wot

Original gaskets are thinner than paper and used to set gear end play. .0005 to .001 clearance. .005 is still too thick! Jim

Not really, but a correctly spaced set of gears will provide even better pressure. The total gear to cover clearance (with gear pushed up) is .0005 to .oo1. It will likely be fine. Jim
