Can you put 14" mold boards on 16" plow? These are super chief style bottoms. I have good set of 14" moldboard from 60 plow, I would put them on 3-16" 70 plow if it would plow alright. Thanks ,DTK.

Don't quote me on this, but I think the moldboards are the same no matter what width bottom you use. The difference is in the point/share.

The 16" moldboards are 2" longer than the 14s,from right to
left. I think the bolt pattern is the same though. Thanks DTK.

DKT is right.2"lomger.The bolt holes are the same. They will work, but you will see the short moldboard. If you replace them all,it wont matter(it wont matter anyway)

Just my opinion, but I'd think you could do it the other way around, 16s on a 14", but not 14s on a 16" to do a good job of plowing. Might wear on the bottom edge of the moldboard and you would need to replace the moldboards sooner.

I just checked the various parts books online for Super Chief plows, and they only list one part number for the moldboard, and do not specify if it is for 14" 16" or 18"?

That's how CNH is selling it now, but years ago there was a difference. 462313 is the part number for a Super Chief X-series 14" and 462314 is the 16". Wiese and Shoup still lists those numbers. If you ordered one from CNH, I don't know what you would get, a 16" or an 18" board.

To the OP, if you've got Super Chief X-series, there's a good chance a 14" board on a 16" frame would work OK since those boards are so long and push the furrow slice over so far to begin with.

DKT and IHCPloughman,

I have two 14" Super Chief moldboards #522328 GP (Gen.Purpose) on hand.

Ploughman, do those numbers tell you anything we need to know?

Also have one 16" Super Chief but can"t make out the number. Just like the 14" boards, but longer.

I bought them from a farmer quitting farming (auction) and he said "I just bought them new to have on hand".
They have no wear on them that I can see.

I never thought about selling them, but if someone really needs them...

I live in central Wisconsin.
LA in WI

Ooops!! I can see I did not read the original post very carefully... I was thinking you needed to know about 14" shares on a 16" moldboard... need to be more attentive.
