Any 915 Combine owners out there. I have a Question. My 915 combine pushes Hytran oil out of the cap which is located up on top be on the left hand side of the engine siting in the combine. Its between the hydraulic pump and the hydro pump. This tank is supposed to have 80/90 gear lube but hytran oil is being pushed into it from some were. Any ideas

I ran a 815 then 2 915 for years but dont remember a place for 90 wt. maybe the gearbox for your pump and hydro drive. check your owners manual the 1660 came out in 85 so its been a while. on that machine I can't think of where any extra oil could come from. do you have your header on the ground when you check the level

I have a 915 that also does the same thing. The vent or filler cap that is blowing oil out is for the 90 degree gear box that connects the hydro to the engine. The reason that it is blowing oil out is that the input shaft seal on the hydro is leaking and over filling the gearbox. I removed the filler cap on the gear box, installed a hose in it's place and ran the hose up to the filler cap on the hydraulic reservoir, installed a pipe tee between the cap and reservoir and attached the hose to the tee. Now any oil that is blown out is simply returned to the reservoir.
I may be wrong but I thought that the manual called for Hytran in the gear box. I plan on replacing the seal to stop the problem as soon as time and money permit.
