Oil pan petcocks

Hi,

Quick question - I'm getting ready to put my oil pan back together before final painting and want to know if I should put teflon tape on the threads of the oil petcocks, or use some other sort of sealer. When I took them off, it looked like someone used pipe thread sealer.. one had very little, the other had too much... Just curious what the experts think.

I would use a good sealer teflon tape or something

I give em a wrap or two of teflon tape.

My experience is Teflon tape does not work as well on parts subject to vibration and these petcocks are. I use Teflon hydraulic paste sealer by Loctite.

petcocks don't need anything on the threads. its not the threads that seal.
