340 Governor bearings

I'm trying to get my governor rebuilt by this upcoming weekend. If I cannot find any bearings in time, any reason why I couldn't replace the bearings with a bushing on the governor shaft? I'm re-bushing the throttle shaft anyway so it wouldn't be a big deal to the other shaft at the same time.

If it already has bearings, replace them with like bearings. Get the number off the old one and/or the dimensions and your local parts store can get new ones for you.

As a temporary fix, to get the tractor up and running ASAP for this weekend, do it.

Once you get the right bearings, go back and do it right.

It's twice the work but you want the tractor for this weekend's pull/show, right? Necessity is the mother of invention.

IMHO you want the bushings to fit a little loose so as to not interfere with the governor response.
