Hello all, went to pull off the manifold (it broke, but that"s
another story) and I removed the 2nd or 3rd nut and the stud
came out too. When the stud came out I got an antifreeze
bath from the stud hole. Does that hole go into the water
jacket or am I looking at a cracked head? Thanks for the info.

Obviously, the stud hole is not "blind" and passes into the water jacket.

Use some pipe sealant on the threads when you put it back together, to prevent a leak.

most likely hole is drilled into the water jacket. drain the coolant and dry the hole, before you put bolt back. then use some sealant around bolt threads.

I have a couple of Farmall 'A' tractors I'm parting out if you need anything. They're listed under the photo ads under the state of Alabama. Good luck with your project.

I have changed several A manifolds and I have never had antifreeze come out of a stud hole. I don't think that is normal.

Yes depending on the yr of the head removing the front stud will let coolant out just clean and use a sealant when replacing.
