International H.C. stakebed truck idles great but dies under any load like pulling out of barn or on a slight incline. Fuel tank has been completely removed and refurbished. Fuel line and filter too.Tank had rust, now fixed. Fuel pump seems like new to appearance but looks like an old but different replacement.Seems to pump fuel o.k.,though. Local mechanic replaced the needle and seat in the carb. Any suggestions what to try next would be greatly appreciated.

Main jet or load circuit in carb is plugged. Unless fuel tank was internally coated you will continue to have rust in carb problem or filter plugged..

I have a 1940 DS30 I use ocassionally (was the main truck till 2 years ago).
I thought I'd "improve it" and put an in-line filter between the tank and pump. Bad idea. What rust I had in the tank prior was easy to get out of the sediment bowl and I never really had problems operating the truck. Now with the inline filter it just traps it all and plugs. Have to take it off and blow it out about every 1/2 hour of operation. When I get to using it again (needs a wheel cylinder right now) I plan to just replace the inline filter with a piece of gas line hose.

I don't know why no one mentioned it but weak spark will cause those symptoms. Does it burp and die or just loose power and fade away? What does it do if you race the engine with no load? If it's a fuel delivery problem it will tell you.

That truck should have a accelerator pump on the carb. Its just a small pump that gives it some extra gas when first starting to accelerate
