184 Lo-boy, clutch/ PTO idlers

I picked up a '78 model 184 Lo-boy recently & I had posted last month about the clicking sound from the clutch area when I push the pedal in.

Someone wrote that there's a zerk fitting on the T.O. bearing but I can't find one. If it's there would it be easy to see or is this thing well hidden?

Also, the idler pulleys at the PTO; is the bearing on that interchangeable or do you just get an entire idler assembly?

Thanks,

Gary

The pulleys at the PTO depends on what kind of mower you have. IH3150? IH3250? Woods? are the most common but there are other brands also.

I had mentioned the greasable throe out bearing on the 184. To be more specific the zerk is in the bearing carrier. Here are a couple photos of one that was removed fro one of my 184s. In the photo the bearing is at the bottom of the carrier. Sorry for the blurry photos/

Bill, I believe that mine is the Woods 3150 but the idler I'm talking about is next to the electric clutch which engages the PTO shaft. The twin belts that transfer power to the PTO shaft also run over this idler.

Gary--

I've never had one of the PTO units out, or had need to repair one. Often before I tackle a repair I ask Hamilton Bob for advice. They part out a number of 154, 185 and 184 Cubs each year and sell the part inventory online. You can ask them the idler question online and they generally reply the next day.
