574 Clutch Adjustment

I have no free play at the lever from the clutch housing. I wonder if the pressure plate fingers have any adjustment. My question is does the pressure plate have adjustable fingers. Hope I do not have to replace the clutch

Hi, if the clutch adjustment has been exhausted and the clutch is slipping then it is time to replace the clutch and pressure plate before the worn pads tear up the flywheel.

Is this with the clutch rod unhooked or with it connected?
If with unhooked then it is time for the clutch to be replaced. If with connected. Then you need to shorten the rod. You really need to check the pedal clearance with out the rod connected .There is a adjusting screw on the pedal that sets the pedal height then adjust the rod for the free play. That screw is on the top tip of the pedal opposite of the tread end. I can't remember the pedal height setting. Can get that in the morning for you if you want. It is at dads.

I unhooked the linkage and there is no freeplay at the lever coming out of the clutch housing. I was hoping that the fingers could be set away from the bearing.

You can't "adjust away" this problem. Your clutch is SHOT. It needs to be replaced.

Anyway, even if the fingers can be adjusted, you still need to split the tractor to get at them. If you split the tractor, you may as well replace the clutch because you will need to split it again to replace the clutch very soon anyway!
