IH paint codes

Is there a difference in color between the "IHC Red" & "IH Red" or is this just a change in code numbers?

Thanks,

Gary

If you are buying at a farm store the name is meaningless. IH made 4 shades of red, 5, if you include the latest one when it was acquired by Tenneco. Only 2 of these are now available. IH 50 and IH 2150 can be mixed. Some say that 1102B can be mixed, I haven't really looked for it. 2150 is the only one still available at CaseIH, excluding the one on the new tractors. Most who don't want to mix buy IH 2150 from the dealer. No one knows if farm store paint is anywhere near the "correct shade". Most of the farm store paints will change color in about a year it the tractor is left outside. The IH paints were put on new tractors approximately as: IH 50 1937-mid 1949, 1102B mid 1949-1958, IH 203 1958-1961, IH 2150 1961-up until the late 70's I think.

Thank you for the history on IH paint codes. I'll make sure I keep that with my IH tractor files.
