Farmall M boiling over

Hi there. After running my M spreading manure the other day it started overheating and boiling over. Of course my temp. gauge isn't working right. The temp. outdoors was about 65f and I was on my 3rd load. Now it was a fair drive in 4th to the field with 1 steep hill, the field isn't flat and I was hauling a INT.540 spreader not overloaded but I didn't think I was working her too hard. It was topped up with good coolant and I could see circulation in the top of the rad. Do I have plugged tubes in the rad. or something else? I'd appreciate any info.
Thanks.

Run it till it is warmed up not hot. Shut off and feel the radiator and see if it is the same temp. all over. Mine is pluged and it is warm on the outsides and cold in the middle.

Maybe the outside of the rad,is plugged with chaff or flakes of manure ? Take the water hose to it from the fan side....

That tractor should not overheat no matter how hard you work it, so you've definitely got a problem.

Could be thermostat. Could be water pump. Could be crud in the radiator. Could be crud ON the radiator. Could be a blown head gasket.

Start with the simple things first.

Touch the bottom hose lightly with your hand to see if its hot. If it's only warm you could have blocked tubes in the radiator or your water pump impeller maybe worn and not circulating enough water. Hal

The fins of the rad are clean and clear and I had it filled about an inch over the top of the tubes in the rad. I'll try the touch tests and maybe flush the rad with some type of cleaner. If that doesn't work I'll go deeper. Thanks a lot for the replies.
