the old timers have told me about years ago on h and m farmalls when they would plow in the river bottoms some times they bolted a small motor like a kohler to the tractor and belt it to the belt pulley on the tractor for more power and run with the belt pulley engaged leave it to a farmer to have a problem and come up with a good fix

I guess it was common practice back 'in the day'.I have a book that shows a bunch of that kind of stuff.Repowers, auxilary motors, homemade tractors......There were a lot of resourceful people those days.

I'm pretty sure in Farm Show Magazine there was an aricle about a guy who mounted a Wisconsin engine alongside of an Oliver tractor, and either belted it to the belt pulley or to the driveshaft somehow years ago for extra power.

That pony motor has all it can do just to hang together long enough to start that john deere. Been inside a couple of them that blew all over the place.

Yes there were several tractors that did that i did see one M had another engine bolted on the left side ran drive back to the pto. There was a post some time ago about a 10hp kohler on a B John Deere ran it to the flywheel pulling a drill in North Dak. Said they didnt realize how much it helped till the aux engine went dead one day.
