farmall f-20

You've got an early F-20. I'm not sure if there was an F-20 in 1932 as they started out as Farmall regulars.

(quoted from post at 19:21:25 05/30/14) Hi, I am looking at a 1932 f-20 that has a 3 speed transmission. were any of the early f-20 built this way? thank-you.

F20 production began in 1932, but they had a 4-speed transmission. The predecessor to the F20, the Regular, used a 3-speed transmission.

Remember, IHC never threw anything away!

They probably had a 3-speed transmission laying around and decided to use it!

You might have a regular if it is that early. You should be able to tell if it is regular by looking to see whether the steering mechanisms are open and the gears are visible, which would mean it is a regular. Like someone else said, IHC always reused parts so you never know what you might find. Since it is such an early F20 you might have a duckbill which is a little more rare. The steering mechanism would clearly look like a ducks bill.

F-20 should have 4 speed tranny. Check the serial numbers. You could possibly have a regular, or an F-20 with a regular tranny/ possibly even the rear end since they are bolted together. This probly your likely senerio's. Alot of parts interchange, and is real common to see a peiced together tractor with parts from both models.

Guys, not sure, and I mean I am NOT sure. but somewhere I read that once the F-20 was in full production, they used up the leftover Regular parts to get them out the door. Is it possible, that if this is truly an early F-20, it may be one of them?

I also know it is VERY possible it is a "Frankenstein", ie. put together out of different tractor parts.

In either case, it may be impossible to tell.......

That was in '34 with the "TA" serial prefix tractors. 661 of them made. all had 4 speeds though
