Hi Glenn, In the 1980s we had a 384 that had a
Lucas alternator on it. It was a smaller size than
the standard Delco alternator. It used a longer fan
belt, adjustment arm and had a finger guard over
the pulley and cooling fins as it hung lower and
half outside the hood sheet metal.

Try a Nippon/Denso alternator from a late 80s/early 90s Toyota. They are not as big in diameter as 10si delcos. They have internal regulator and take one hot wire and one switched exciter wire. Our local auto electrical shop has two 55 gallon drums of them and will overhaul one for around $60. Salvage yard is a source also, but you do not always know what you are getting. I just put one on a Ford 8n for a neighbor.
