Discing up pretty heavy, with 8" JD disc, the clutch area developed a loud rat-a-tat-a-rat-a-tat, and clutch pivot shaft sticking out the side of transmission, now has in-and-out 1/4" free play. I think is was also vibrating in and out before I shut it off.
Any quick ideas before I tear into it? Thanx guys.

Best guess, clutch release bearing carrier broke, next guesses, maybe clutch shaft to transmission yoke parts failing or loose. Maybe clutch shaft piloit bearing or pressure plate failing. Look up from bottom, remove liftall unit if needed.
If nothing broke the bolts had to come out of the casting that moves the release bearing for the clutch operating shaft to shift to the left.

That"s funny. Oh, my typewrter here mixes up single-dashes and double-dashes.
To really answer your question, I"ve had this thing apart and back together numerous times, lately, and it"s something I did, I"m sure. I"m getting tired of i t. A sin of ommission or commission.

That little tin cover under the hydraulic pump drive shaft....it isn't bent up and rubbing on the pump drive coupler is it?
