What is this For?

I have a 54 Super C with a Hydraulic Leak. Hydraulic Fluid squirts out,(at point of Arrow) every time I raise the Fast Hitch. I thought it was a easy fix, remove plug, put some Teflon Tape on threads, and install plug back into the Tee. But after a closer look, it looks like someone Brazed the plug into the Tee. My Question is, why is the Tee there? What was the Tee used for?

Looks like a common pipe tee rather than an IH part. The plug was probably brazed into the tee the last time it leaked for some previous owner. I'd just replace it unless someone who knows more than I do chimes in (not that it would take much to know more than I do.)

Looks like a farmer fix for a broken hose. Just get a new hose and do away with it. May have gone to an accessory cylinder or something at one time from the looks of it.

There are PLENTY of fittings there to eliminate. Find out what size hose you need to run continuous from the front to the back and take all of that out of there. I did that on a tractor this weekend - I ended up with a coffee can full of fittings that weren't needed.

It's not supposed to be there! Some one bypassed the piston block that slows down the drop of an implement so it doesn't get damaged.

Replace the entire hose from the auxiliary control valve to the cylinder. Thats the bet long term solution.

If money's tight replace that T with a coupling.

This is what is supposed to be there. A block with a flow control valve in it. There is also 2 hoses running out the back going to fast hitch cylinder that you can't see.
