new to me 806

Guys I am really pleased that I finally found what I think is a decent 806 that I felt like I could afford. What are the best shop manuals for these tractors and where can I buy them? The gear shift seems to work pretty well except for going into reverse and that takes a little jiggling. On first appearance it looks like it wouldn't take too much to adjust it but those are famous last words lol. Any tips ,suggestions/recomendations are welcome. A big thank you to Agri - King for calling it to my attention. Cant wait to get it home and put it to work. Thanks Lee

WITHOUT a doubt, you want the factory IH shop manual. I'm not sure if our hosts here have any reprints available, check that out first. If NOT, you need to get in touch with Binder Books.

Delta's solution isn't even the @%&^$^&*# stepchild to the REAL thing.

as for a manual the I T is ok if you have some basics . Now as for ADJUSTMENTS , Other then getting the linkage centered up there is NO real adjustments . Most times to fix the problem with rev. ya start by repairing and replacing pieces and parts. Lets start with the simple stuff first , Remove the cowel and look at the little tie rod ends and see how bad they are , if they have slop replace with new . If you have a lot of slop in the range shift lever replace the bushing in the lever . Next move on down to the range shift rod and replace the headed pins with the correct ones . This may solve the problem ad it may not . If it does not then ya have to go deeper into things . The next thing would be the range cover then the shifting levers in the cover and cam , rollers and detent and cam . It may also take a rev shift rod and key if the key does not fit tight in the rod where it goes into the rev. shift fork. And i have even had to replace the rev. shifting fork on a few . The problem all starts from being SLAMMED into REV. and this is caused by the clutch , trans brake and dump valve being out of adjustment . when everything is set correctly they will shift with two fingers , if not the tug of war starts and the end results is what you have now .

Thanks for the help fellas. I hope to get it home in the next couple of days and put her to what she was built for. Lee
