Cultivator Models for Farmall B/BN Tractor

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what the different cultivator models were for the B? I am needing to find some quick as I have crops coming up (& weeds).

Thanks

I assume you are asking about 2-row cultivators for something like 3 foot rows.

There were 3, what you find usually depends on where you are:

- 221 -- gang shifting (steering), usually has 4 teeth on front, 7 on back. Used for checkrow planting.

- 236 -- fixed gangs, round tool bar, usually has 8 teeth on front, 3 on back. Round bars allow tilting the working tools for ridged crops.

- 238 -- like the 236 but with rectangular toolbars. Used anywhere the other 2 weren't needed.

The model numbers had a "B" prefix for the B and"BN" for the BN. Thus the shifting cuiltivator for a BN was "BN-221"

As Jim said they all fit only difference is rear rockshaft as the BN would be 8in narrower. There is one more the veggie model but finding one of them would be very very hard to find. There is a difference between the models for hand lift and exhaust lift on the lift assy. The hand lift models had two levers one shorter than other and exhaust had two levers the same length with one spring to lower when pressure was released they did had two levers same length for hand lift allowing just one side at a time to be raised and lowered and had two springs for ease of lifting. Most models you will find were for exhaust lift.

Hi Jim,
When you say "depending on where you are...", where would you think I should look for the vegetable cultivator model?
Thanks

There are small pockets of vegetable growing areas all over the country. Those would be the places to look for a vegetable cultivator. I don't know where all they might be. Since you haven't mentioned where you are, I have no idea where you should look. As Gene pretty well indicated in his reply, it doesn't matter where you look as you won't find one anyway.

In the other thread, you posted that you were going to cultivate 15 acres of row crops. That is work for one of the 3 cultivators already mentioned, not a vegetable cultivator.
