574 gas issues

My 574 acts like it is out of gas. Sediment bulb screen is clean, seem to get plenty of gas without sediment bulb on, so I don't think rust in tank is the culprit.let it set a few minutes, hit the starter and she'll run for few seconds, then die like she's out of gas. Gas does run real slow out of drain plug in carb. Could fuel pump be bad?

my diesel 574 tractor would do same thing , pull the valve from the bottom of the tank you will probably find dirt or rust. to fix this i took some fine screen and made a small cone and put in the inlet on the valve and have not had a problem in close to 10 years.

There should be a screen in the inlet line where it goes into the carb too. I had rust so fine it would jam the needle valve on mine, a small magnet dropped into each side of the tank solved this problem maybe 10 years ago.

How about your electric gas selinoide on bottom of the carb?

The selinoide was removed and replaced with a plug.

That inlet screen was almost completely clogged. I didn't know it was there. Thanks everybody.
